Hello! I figured it was a good idea to introduce myself and what this blog is all about. My name is Ben and I love telling stories with photos, video, and any other digital avenue I can find. Starting January of 2020, I am going as a missionary to Switzerland. I will be going on staff with YWAM Lausanne working in their creative media department. I am incredibly passionate about media and its use as a tool for ministry. Isaiah 12:4-5 is my mission statement. It reads: “Give thanks to the Lord, call on His name in prayer. Make His deeds known among the peoples of the earth; Proclaim to them that His name is exalted! Sing praises to the Lord, for He has done excellent and glorious things; Let this be known throughout the earth.” Back when Isaiah was written it took a long time to spread information. Now with the internet and social media, we can send word around the world in an instant. Books and manuscripts have been replaced by photos, videos, and other media content. This has lead to all kinds of new ways to spread the gospel and to share stories of the amazing moves the living God is making all across the globe. However, it requires people with the specialized skills and passion to document, record, and share these stories so they are not forgotten. This is the role I seek to play in furthering the kingdom of God. You may be wondering why Switzerland? The YWAM base in Lausanne is a major hub for missions. They send out hundreds of people from all over the world to almost every corner of the globe to do many different kinds of missions work every year. This makes it an ideal spot to be for documenting and sharing what God is doing all over the world. They currently have a small team of 2-3 others doing this work, but there is so much to be done. On this blog I will document this undertaking with posts, videos, and photos so you can come along with me. I am excited and full of anticipation of being able to use my skills and talents in furthering the kingdom of God and spreading the gospel in this new digital frontier.
